The Bears

I used to think cats were out to get me. Every cat I ever came across wanted to rip my face off.

My best friend, Sigs, a self confessed “Mad Cat Lady” just couldn’t understand my bias, nor me hers.

In 2022, after a change of my shift patterns, Miss Maudie convinced me that a cat would be good company for us both whilst the other was at work. I wasn’t convinced.

Miss Maudie was viewing the kittens of a pedigree Bluepoint British Shorthair cat who was “visited” by a passing Tabby! She rang me and said “The kittens aren’t really wanted as they are black and not pedigree. I’m looking at one kitten who has a sister. Shall we/I get both?” Being a bloody good husband, I said “Of course.”

I fell in love with them straight away.

Whilst doting on the tiny kittens, and being totally cought up in the “Aren’t they cute?”, “Look at the way they cuddle up to each other/us”, “Shall we take down all the net curtains in the house?” and buying 100 GB of Google drive for all the pics of them, we had to come up with names.

“Toothless”, “Bat Cat & Bat Girl”, “Poo Machine One and Two” were rejected.

We came up with Ghibli (the male) and Catbus (the female).

I’m not here to explain their names, Google it. I’d like to say however that the vets surgery staff have variously called him Gibby, Gobby, Glibbly and “What!”.
Hats off to the Vet who asked us “Why didn’t you call one of them Totoro?”
